We all know what people  say about translations – it is sufficient to know a foreign language in order  to be able to translate...

The existence of academic studies in the field should prove  on the contrary to those that share this view that there is more to it than that. Becoming a professional requires a substantial theoretical background doubled by an adequate practical experience in the field and by  a permanently improved general knowledge.

Does it mean that a translator specialised in the technical field should be ”savvy” about all branches of science and technology? Or should she/he be able to cover only a particular area of knowledge? Neither one, nor the other, but he should master Romanian, the particularities of technical/non-literary texts, as well as effective research techniques in order to  accomplish  translations accurately.

We have reached these conclusions throughout our years of collaboration experience with important translation companiess and also with our university departments for which we have been translating scientific and technical texts. In fact this is how the idea of a Translation and Interpretation specialization was born. We wanted to capitalize what we had accumulated all these years and to be able to create specialists capable to meet the demand for non-literary translators on the Romanian and the European market. In addition, many of us are qualified translators and/or interpreters or have double specialization in various other fields: Law, Economics, Humanities, Engineering etc.

If you fancy a job that may ensure  flexibility and may always challenge you by its novelty, then translation and/or interpretation is what you are looking for. Moreover, such a profession  may be also independent of the dissolution or radical reorganization of various fields of activity, which is a constitutive feature of today’s and tomorrow’s global village, and  may never allow you to get bored.

We will offer you a two-cycle development path (Bachelor and Master) which may constitute a solid point of departure for your future career, we will share with you the great as well as the small secrets of the translator and/or interpreter professions. At the same time, we will help you progress in the foreign languages you are already familiar with and which you are going to study, we will teach you another one, even two, if you wish, and we will also involve you in many professional and extracurricular activities which might entitle  you to say, at the end of the years of studies: ”Now I have become a professional!”
